Creative Team of Lawfully Wedded 2015
Roy Arauz (Director)
Roy is thrilled to revisit Lawfully Wedded with most of the original team and some excellent new voices. With a background dance, choreography, and stage management, he has worked in various capacities at ArtsWest, Balagan Theatre, The Driftwood Players, Latino Theatre Projects, SecondStory Repertory, and Snoqualmie Falls Forest Theatre among others. Recent directing credits include the bilingual touring production of La Mariposa (Book•It Repertory), 14/48: Outdoors, Life is a Dream (Ghost Light Theatricals) and the regional premieres of The Temperamentals and The Hen Night Epiphany (Arouet). He will spend part of his summer at the 2015 Lincoln Center Director’s Lab in New York City. He founded Arouet in 2011 and has served as Artistic Director since; a role he is stepping down from in June to focus on directing.
Mariajosé Barrera (Director)
Mariajosé had her first introduction to being an active theatre member presenting an original monologue for the Latino Theater Projects. She has since been able to be a part of Anna in the Tropics and Lawfully Wedded. Work she has done with the Arouet family includes assistant directing The Hen Night Epiphany and The Long Road and producing The Temperamentals, The Brick and The Rose, and Don Juan in Chicago. She is excited to continue working with Arouet and to revisit Lawfully Wedded as a director for our reading.
Jeremy Behrens (Actor)
Greg Brisendine (Poet)
Greg is an actor, playwright and poet in Seattle and is really happy for this encore performance of Lawfully Wedded! It was an amazing experience to contribute to this important work. He writes and performs on poetry slam stages across North America and is increasingly focusing on writing for the stage and acting.
Daniel Cords (Original Concept/Research)
Danny is passionate about theatre and education and is ecstatic when the two combine. Working on and off stage, Danny was last seen on stage performing the title role in a touring production of Andrew Lippa’s I Am Harvey Milk. Most recently, Danny directed Andrew Lippa and Rachel DeShon in The Seattle Men’s Chorus production of Legacy, which featured Lippa’s oratorio, I Am Harvey Milk. Danny is thrilled to be associated with Arouet and the powerful work they produce. Danny wants to thank Roy, Mariajose, John, Joshua, and the entire Arouet team for their relentless dedication and hard work.
Bruce Erickson (Actor)
WOW! I am so pleased and excited to be involved with the Lawfully Wedded project again. I enjoyed the process before of helping to create a wonderful piece of theatre, and now a chance to be performing it again, is just icing on the cake. Most recently Bruce was seen on as Edna Turnblatt in Hairspray. Bruce has been a part of the theatre community for over 30 years, having appeared in productions up and down the Northwest I-5 corridor. I am tremendously pleased to have this opportunity to work with Roy, the production team and this AWESOME cast again! It is important to stand up and be counted on such an important issue. In a small way we are here and are a part of the current changing history. As always a BIG thank you to my friends and family, especially my son Noah, who lets me play dress up with the BIG KIDS!
Caitlin Gilman (Playwright)
Caitlin Gilman is a local playwright and actress. Past productions include an adaptation of Calderon’s Life is a Dream at Ghostlight Theatricals, J.D Salinger is My God, which won the audience favorite award at Stone Soup’s “Outside the Box” festival, and Pretty Girls (co-written with Opal Peachey and Elizabeth Tanner). Look for her full length play My Dear Miss Chancellor at Annex Theatre this fall. She is a graduate of Cornish College of the Arts.
Jared Holloway-Thomas (Actor)
Jared is a classically trained actor who attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He recently appeared in Arouet’s production of The Long Road and will be appearing in Green Stage’s Much Ado About Nothing this summer. Jared Holloway-Thomas has had a lifelong passion for theatre and hugs. He is thrilled to be rejoining Arouet.
Joshua Jon (Director)
Joshua is the incoming artistic director for Arouet, as well as a director, playwright, and singer-actor. He is currently directing Sidewinders with Fantastic Z, a transgender-existential-western-comedy performing at the Hugo House in July. Recent directing credits include Arouet’s Don Juan in Chicago, co-directing Seattle Immersive Theatre’s Supraliminal, and assistant directing Ghostlight Theatrical’s Life is a Dream. This year, you may have also seen his short plays Ballad of Mary Jo (Medicine Ball, Seattle Theatre Works) and Lulz (Fantastic Z).
Addie Keller (Actor)
Addie is thrilled to be working with Arouet for this special remount. Her past productions with Arouet include The Brick and the Rose and Lawfully Wedded. She has also been in A Christmas Carol at Auburn Ave Theatre and created several original works with her company Mirum Mirum Productions, (dis)Order and Doughnut Holes. Currently she is getting her Masters in Teaching for Elementary Education at UW where she will graduate this June. She hopes you enjoy the show and as always, thanks to her mother, father and sister for their continual support in her artistic endeavors.
Idalia Limón (Actor)
Idalia is happy to work again with the wonderful cast and crew of Lawfully Wedded. She has been keeping busy doing voice overs, local commercials, and short films. Her acting training background include UANL in her native México, AADA in NY and Freehold Theater in Seattle. She loves old school rollerskating and expressing herself through writing.
Morgan Ludlow (Playwright)
Morgan is the recipient of the 2013 San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award for Best Original Script for his play, GORGEOUS HUSSY: An Interview with Joan Crawford. Morgan has produced more than 30 productions in the past 15 years. In 2008 he founded Wily West Productions in San Francisco and his play, RUTH AND THE SEA was listed as one of the of “Best Productions of 2010” by the SF Bay Times & KQED. Last year Wily West won the Theatre Bay Area Award for Best World Premiere. He has served as the Producing Director for the Playwrights Center of San Francisco. Morgan is currently the Artistic Director for Pacific Play Company here in Seattle while also running Wily West Productions in San Francisco. He is a member of Theatre Bay Area, Theatre Puget Sound and the Dramatists Guild of America.
Carissa Meisner-Smit (Actor)
Carissa has recently appeared onstage with the Driftwood Players, Seattle Fringe Festival, Second Story Repertory, The Phoenix, and Arouet. Favorite roles include Thelma (Lark Eden), Debra (Kimberly Akimbo), Genevra (Bright Ideas), and Velma (Chicago). She is also an active director and choreographer as well as producer.
Lisa Marie Nakamura (Actor)
Lisa Marie is happy to be a part of Lawfully Wedded 2015. She is an Executive Producer for SIS Productions and was last seen in their production of Impenetrable. Currently she is producing SIS Productions’ next project, Paper Angels by Genny Lim which will be opening in August. Lisa Marie would like to thank Arouet for all the good work they do and for letting her play. Thank you Roy and Joshua for their direction and to the wonderful cast.
Gabriel Sedgemore (Actor)
Gabriel is more than excited to be part of Lawfully Wedded again, even if for one night. It’s great to be back with some of the original cast and be working with new actors on such eye opening and heart-warming original plays.

Colleen Carey (Woman 1)
Colleen has been working as a professional actress since the age of five. Having trained at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and North Carolina School for the Arts, she returned to Seattle to be near family. (A million thanks to David, Aidan, Sue, Pat & my very large clan). Recent film and theater roles include: Miss O’Donnell in the film Different Drummers (now playing in AMC theaters) and The Fraus in All Through the Night at ArtsWest. Cynthia Geary (Woman 2)
Cynthia’s Seattle theatre credits include Book-It Repertory productions of Giant, The Awakening, A Confederacy of Dunces and Truth Like the Sun. She is a member of Theatre 9/12, and has performed in their productions of Blithe Spirit and The Equation. Cynthia is best known to TV audiences for her Emmy nominated role, Shelley Tambo, on the series Northern Exposure. Her feature film credits include 8 Seconds, Smoke Signals, Expiration Date, Crimes of the Past, Ira Finkelstein’s Christmas and soon to be released Nothing Against Life.
Kelly Morgan Stevens (Menacing Presence)
Kelly Morgan has stage managed for Cafe Nordo, Moisture Festival, and The Degenerate Art Ensemble. In her spare time, she is delighted to work at Cafe Flora, make performance art in her garage, and pet her exceptionally soft dog.

Paul Budraitis (Director/Scenic Design/Sound Design)
Paul is a Seattle-based director, actor, writer, and solo performer, as well as a teacher of acting, stage movement, and interdisciplinary art. In Seattle, he has worked with Seattle Repertory Theatre, On the Boards, New City Theatre, the Degenerate Art Ensemble, Annex Theatre, Balagan Theatre, and Cornish College of the Arts, among others. He directed the premiere of Elizabeth Heffron’s Bo-Nita at Seattle Repertory Theatre, and his solo performance (IN)STABILITY was commissioned and produced by On the Boards . His production of David Mamet’s Edmond received a Seattle Times “Footlight Award” as one of the best productions of 2010.
Paul was the recipient of a State Department Fulbright grant to study theatre directing at the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy (LMTA) in Vilnius, Lithuania, where he earned his master’s degree under the mentorship of visionary theatre director Jonas Vaitkus. In Lithuania, Paul worked with the National Drama Theatre of Lithuania, the State Youth Theatre of Lithuania, the Kaunas State Drama Theatre, and Oskaras Koršunovas/Vilnius City Theatre (OKT). He assisted directors Jonas Vaitkus and Oskaras Koršunovas, and as an actor, he collaborated with acclaimed Finnish director Kristian Smeds on a contemporary re-imagining of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, which was performed in Lithuania, as well as in Vienna as part of the Vienna Festival. Most recently, Paul created a new adaptation of Chekhov’s Three Sisters, which he directed at Cornish College of the Arts in October 2014.

Recent directing credits include The Fierce Urgency of Now (Arouet), La Mariposa (Book-It Repertory Education Program), and Life is a Dream (Ghost Light Theatricals).
Joshua Jon (Co-Producer)
Joshua is a director-playwright-actor who made his Arouet debut last year directing Don Juan in Chicago. Joshua has also had the amazing opportunity to have assistant directed Life is a Dream (Ghostlight Theatricals) and Supraliminal (Seattle Immersive Theatre), as well as presenting a portion of his adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray for Arouet’s Arts Crush event, Conversations We Have. Joshua will be directing again this summer with Sidewinders (Fantastic Z); a transgender, existential Western. Originally hailing from Salt Lake, Utah, Joshua has been independently producing his work around the Rockies before finally arriving in the Emerald City. Joshua holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from The University of Idaho and is inspired by his friends, pop art, and the American West.
Sarah Pappin (Stage Manager)
Sarah has her B.S. in Theatre Arts from the University of Idaho. She has previously worked for Idaho Repertory Theatre and Theatre West.
Deborah Skorstad (Costuming)
You have most likely seen Deborah’s work on many, many of Seattle’s stages including but not limited to: Seattle Opera, the Village Theater, Seattle Shakespeare Company, Taproot Theater, Seattle Children’s Theater and Circus Contraption. She is also a Costumer Lead Designer and teacher with the UW School of Drama, both graduate and undergraduate.

Abigail Grimstad (Emma)
Abigail is very excited to be in her first show with Arouet, with such a great cast and crew. Previous shows include: Much Ado About Nothing at Seattle Shakespeare Company; The Three Musketeers, Spring Awakening, Blood Relations, and more, at Bellevue College; Dracula, The Curious Savage, Paul Sill’s Story Theater, and more, at Valley Center Stage. She is an avid Shakespeare lover and hopes to one day work with Shakespeare’s Globe. She sends huge thanks to Zandi, the cast and crew, her family,and her VCS fam.
Jared Holloway-Thomas (Joe)
Jared is a classically trained actor with a BA in applied theatre from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. He has been living in and working around the Seattle area for several years, having contributed artistically to local area film & theatre. Recently appeared in Seattle Immersive Theatre’s Supraliminal. Jared also does voice over and dialect coaching. Currently between representation. 😉
Eleanor Moseley (Mary)
Eleanor is delighted to be working on this project with this talented team. Seattle stage appearances include The Art of Racing in the Rain (Book-It Repertory); The Way of All Fish (The Little Theatre); The Familiar (Eclectic Theater); Ladies of the Corridor, Come Back the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, and Last Summer at Bluefish Cove (Hugo House with Woman Seeking, a Theatre Co.) Recent film projects: Children of Light, The Dark Horse, and Regulate. More distant history includes theatre and film work in New York, North Carolina, and the Bay area. She trained at HB Studios in NY, ACT/San Francisco, and more recently at Freehold, with John Jacobsen, Arne Zaslove, Matt Smith, and with Charles Waxberg at Theatre 9/12. An aspiring writer, her short play The High Road was staged in last summer’s Seattle Fringe Fest, and What Remains was presented at the NW Playwrights’ Alliance recent Literary Salon. John Murray (John)
John a seasoned Seattle actor is delighted to debut this very affecting play stateside. John has performed at numerous Seattle area theaters and is a multiple footlight award recipient. Favorite roles include Slim (Of Mice and Men), Dennis (Mauritius), Restin (Language Archives), Lee (True West), Cliff (The Woolgatherer), Sr. Angela (The Nuns), and George (Of Mice and Men).Television credits include NBC’s Grimm and Northern Exposure. John can be heard regularly on radio’s Jim French’s Imagination Theater as Lt. Dutcher in The Harry Nileseries and Det. Insp. Gregson in the Sherlock Holmes canon.
Kate Witt (Elizabeth)
Kate was last seen on the Arouet stage as Sandy in Don Juan In Chicago. Most recently, she appeared throughout Seattle parks as Casca in Wooden O’s production of Julius Caesar. She has worked with Arouet, ArtsWest, Wooden O, SecondStory Repertory, Puget Sound Revels, New Century Theatre Company, and Seattle Shakespeare Company. Zandi Carlson (Director)
Zandi couldn’t be happier to be returning to Arouet, having performed as Paige in The Gene Pool. Zandi recently directed STAGEright’s production of A New Brain, and was the assistant director to Theresa Thuman on Sound Theatre Company’s production of Holiday of Errors. As a performer, Zandi has been involved in the Gregory Award Winning production of Sound Theatre’s The Wild Party, Seattle Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, and many more throughout the Pacific Northwest. Zandi currently serves as the Director of Education for Bainbridge Performing Arts and has been a teaching artists in Seattle since graduating from Oklahoma City University with a BFA in Acting.

Catherine Crockett (Costume Design)
Catherine is very excited to be involved with this powerful production of The Long Road! This is her first time working with Arouet, and her third time working with the fabulous Zandi Carlson. Previous works include A New Brain, All in the Timing, and Calling Nancy Drew with STAGEright. Catherine was also fortunate to work as the head of wardrobe at Seattle University’s Lee Center for the Arts. Catherine would like to think her Aunt Joanie for letting her borrow her sewing machine 7 years ago!
Renée Cyr Johnson (Dramaturge)
Renée is thrilled to be working with such a talented cast and crew. She most recently assistant directed the world premiere production of The Fierce Urgency of Now. Previously she spent her summer stage managing Honk and Annie at Kitsap Forest Theatre. Other companies she has worked with include Driftwood, Tapproot, Stone Soup, SecondStory Rep, and Arouet (where she is a company member). She would like to thank you for supporting local theatre. Also check out Death By Chocolate at Driftwood which Renée is currently assistant stage managing. Up next Renée will be attending grad school pursing her PhD in theatre.
Jessica Kiely (Dialect Coach)
Jessica is thrilled to be working on her first production with Arouet. She is a graduate of the Acting program at Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts (PCPA), and is about to graduate from Cornish College of the Arts with a BFA in Musical Theatre. She has performed professionally in the San Francisco Bay Area and on the central coast of California, and loves being part of the Seattle theatre community.
Micah Kolding (Properties Design)
Micah is a writer and occasional actor, having appeared on stage for Seattle Immersive Theatre and Studio 4 Seattle.
Patrick Mulligan (Sound Design)
Patrick is crassly joyful for the opportunity to be designing for Arouet’s production of The Long Road. Patrick is a recent graduate from the University of Idaho where he received a Bachelors of Science in Theatre Arts. Patrick has previously worked with The Livermore Shakespeare Festival, The Idaho Repertory Theatre, Northwest Public Radio, 89.3FM KUOI and has produced a literary podcast called Two Pints In — Storytelling. Currently, Patrick is working for 90.3FM KEXP and is pursuing a continued career in celebrating music, storytelling and the beautiful artists behind it all.
Zanna Paulson (Lighting Design)
Zanna is new to the Seattle theatre community, having spent the previous 10 years lighting stages across the country. She vaunts a wide variety of experience in venues and technology, but is particularly proud of her efforts in tailoring original plays and musicals. Zanna also enjoys experimenting with light in photography and volunteering her skills for companies such as Equity Fights AIDS (Broadway Across America), Phillips Lighting and local education centers.
Kim Rosin (Set Design)
Kim is delighted to be working with the talented crew and actors of The Long Road. Kim is endlessly inspired by her creative collaboration with Arouet. She previously designed their sets for The House of Bernarda Alba, The Temperamentals, Don Juan in Chicago and The Fierce Urgency of Now. She has designed other sets in Seattle and Vancouver BC. Kim is an artist but is also passionate about theatre and design and loves incorporating her many interests in the fields of theater, fabric and industrial design.
Talle Selhorst (Assistant Stage Manager)
Talle is making her Seattle theater scene debut. Talle moved here from Baltimore in 2011 to pursue all things Pacific Northwest: coffee, compost, and lots of live art. She hopes this will be the first of many more productions with Arouet.

Jaden Batara (Catherine)
Jaden is so excited to be working with Arouet in The Children’s Hour. This is her first play though she has participated in many musicals. Favorites include: The Wizard Of Oz (Munchkin/Poppy), The Music Man (Amaryllis), The King and I (princess), and Annie (Annie). She is excited to get to know all of the girls in the cast and to make new friends. She would like to thank Daniel, Roy, Ada and everyone else on the artistic team. Also, she would like to thank her family for always supporting her.
Mary Murfin Bayley (Mrs. Tilford)
Mary is delighted to be back at Arouet where she previously played La Poncia in The House of Bernarda Alba. Other recent roles have been with Azeotrope, Theatre 9/12, Greenstage, Last Leaf, Eclectic, Studio4Seattle, Seattle Public, and Book-it. Her TV and film work include NBC’s Grimm and Julio Ramirez’s Nothing Against Life. Mary received her Theater B.A. from Reed College, trained at the HB Studio in New York, and studied Commedia Dell’ Arte at Teatro Cestello in Florence. In 2014 she SAFDA certified in her fourth weapons style: Single Sword.
Amalya BenHaim (Leslie)
Amalya is delighted to be performing with Arouet. Recent credits include: A Little Princess (Nora) and The Secret Garden (Mary) at Studio East, and Oliver! (school girl and orphan) at the 5th Avenue Theatre. Other favorites include: Fiddler On the Roof (Golde) and Cinderella (Joy) at Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre and a school production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Helena). Amalya started acting in third grade and has been exploring the wonders and learning experiences theatre has to offer ever since. Love and so much gratitude to family and friends who support my passion for the stage.
Sally Brady (Mrs. Mortar)
Sally is pleased to be working with Arouet for the first time. Last seen at Seattle Public Theater as Lady Boyle in Superior Donuts. Other roles: Meg in Lie of the Mind at ACT, Mrs. Prentice in What the Butler Saw and Vuvuzela in Sleeping Beauty at Centerstage. Originally from Kansas City, Sally has worked in regional theater, as well as fringe theater in London England, and two extensive educational theater tours in Italy.
Darian Conn (Peggy)
Darian is very excited to have the opportunity to be working with Arouet for the very first time. Darian has been acting since the age of six, mostly doing musicals. She has had the good fortune to be a regular on the stage at Driftwood. You might have seen her in The Wizard of Oz, The Music Man, The King and I, Annie, Oliver! or Beauty and the Beast. Her favorite roles have been Annie in Annie (King’s Players) and Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden (Core Theatrics). She is thankful to her family for all of their love and support and she hopes you enjoy the show!

Joanna’s acting credits include: Artists Rep, Eureka Theatre, New Rose Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival and others. Favorite roles include Rosalind in As You Like It, Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire and Kate in All My Sons. She received a MFA in Acting from University of Minnesota, a BA from Humboldt State University and also trained at ACT San Francisco. Recent Seattle directing work: Night Watch (Driftwood Players) and The God of Hell (Stone Soup Theatre).
Lindsay W. Evans (Martha)
Lindsay is very happy to be working with Arouet for the first time in The Children’s Hour. A few of her favorite past credits include Gabby in Serenading Louie, Louise in The Underpants (SecondStory Rep), Edward/Victoria in Cloud Nine (Lyric Theatre, L.A.), Belle in A Christmas Carol (ACT), and Margot Frank in The Diary of Anne Frank (Intiman). She last appeared in Black Like Us at Annex and Life is a Dream at Ghost Light. Lindsay received her theatre degree from Western Washington University and is also a trained sign language interpreter.
Maya L’Abbe (Lois)
Maya is a 7th Grader at University Preparatory Academy. She is thrilled to be able to be in the production of The Children’s Hour. You may have seen her in Peter Pan (Lyric Light Opera); Singing in the Rain, Snow White, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mulan Jr. (Seattle Children’s Theater); and various Broadway Bound Shows. Kayla Lian (Karen)
Kayla is thrilled to be making her Arouet debut in this wonderful play! Kayla has been seen onstage in the Pacific Northwest as Rosaline in Love’s Labour’s Lost (Seattle Shakespeare Company), Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Kitty in Anna Karenina (Portland Center Stage), And So It Goes… and Tribes (Artists Repertory Theatre), Crooked (CoHo Productions), One Flea Spare (Shaking the Tree), as the understudy in the one-woman show, Bo-Nita (Seattle Repertory Theatre), among others. She will play Viola in Portland Shakespeare Project’s production of Twelfth Night this summer. Kayla holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Washington and a BFA in Acting from Pace University in New York City.
Eileen MacDonald (Evelyn)
Eileen MacDonald (Evelyn) is thrilled to be a part of this production. This is her second professional production and previously she has done many shows with Seattle Public Theater through their youth program. Just this past winter she was in their mainstage professional production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Other roles she has enjoyed in the past through SPT’s youth program are Meg Murry in A Wrinkle in Time, Dromio of Ephesus in The Comedy of Errors, and Semyonov Pischik in The Cherry Orchard.
Jasmyne Mendoza (Janet)
Jasmyne is excited to join the cast of The Children’s Hour. Jasmyne is currently a 6th grader at Washington Middle School, studies violin, and is part of the Orchestra at WMS. Jasmyne attributes her start as an artist to the wonderful coaches at Seattle Talent, which led to recognition as Female Pre-Teen Actor of the year 2nd runner up at IMTA. Jasmyne dedicates her performance this season to her grandparents, Primo Jr and Donna Ragsac, whose support has been instrumental in allowing her to pursue her craft.
Julia Schoemig (Helen)
Julia is a sophomore at Ingraham High School and has enjoyed participating in Seattle Public Theater’s Youth Program for the past five years. She has had roles in many plays like Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Maxine in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Rebecca in Our Town, and Emma in the student written play, Maggie’s Diner, to name a few. The Children’s Hour is Julia’s first play with Arouet and she’s excited to be a part of this production.
Rachel Sedwick (Mary)
Rachel is thrilled to be a part of Arouet’s The Children’s Hour, working with so many wonderfully talented artists. Rachel has worked on several smaller film and theatre projects throughout the previous year while focusing mainly on other passions including dance and her new personal training business, Performative Fitness. She enjoys everything the local arts scene has to offer, and looks forward to future endeavors for whatever lies ahead.
Olivia Sterne (Rosalie)
Olivia is pleased to be performing with Arouet for the first time. She appeared as Imogene in Seattle Public Theater’s production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, and has often performed as a member of the SPT’s youth ensemble. Her roles have included Lear in King Lear, Emily in Our Town, Penny in You Can’t Take It With You, and Maria in Twelfth Night. Olivia has also worked as stage manager for many youth productions including The Comedy of Errors, Macbeth, and numerous workshops. Olivia attends Ingraham High School.
Tom Stewart (Dr. Joe Cardin)
Tom is an actor, writer and playwright. Recent roles include Otto in Starling, Iago in Black Vengeance For Ghost Light, John in Fifth of July for Theate22, Mr. Hau in Preston Stagger, Ruggles in Tulips of Fury, Jack Mann in The Beebo Brinker Chronicles. He co-wrote Evan & Bobbie for STAGEright, which was impressive. He has two books coming out in 2015 and you should buy them. His current project is a show about the final campaign of Bobby Kennedy. In his spare time, he likes to write short bio pieces in the third person.

Daniel Wood (Director)
Daniel is thrilled to be returning to Arouet in the director’s chair. Arouet audiences may recognize him as Harry Hay in the regional premier of The Temperamentals. Daniel is a veteran of Seattle theater having worked with such theaters as Seattle Public Theater, Wooden O, Theater Schmeater, Sound Theatre Company, Annex Theatre, Centerstage, GreenStage, Balagan Theatre, Macha Monkey and the Seattle Opera.
Jordan Johansen (Stage Manager)
Jordan has Stage Managed shows for Arouet, EDCC, Driftwood Players, Village Theater (Kidstage) and Seattle Musical Theater. Some of her favorites are The Laramie Project, Cabaret, All My Sons, Little Shop of Horrors, Annie, Barefoot in the Park, The Jungle Book and Annie get Your Gun. Jordan would like to thank Arouet for letting her do another great production with them.
Dana Amromin (Sound Design)
A native of Los Angeles by some accident of birth, Dana is proud to call the Pacific Northwest home since Spring of 2013. With a background in performance and directing, Dana has haphazardly and completely fallen in love with sound design. Most recently, she designed sound for Ghost Light Theatricals’ Gogolplex, Theater Schmeater’s The Secretaries, and Blood Ensemble’s Barn Show. Thanks to Daniel and Arouet for their trust and collaboration on this incredible play.
Robin Macartney (Set Design and Properties)
Robin is excited to be a part of this production! When not working as a technical assistant/FOH manager at the Theatre Off Jackson, she can be found at the University of Puget Sound where she is the Theatre Department’s Scene Shop Supervisor. Professional credits include design work with Seattle Shakespeare, Youth Theatre NW, Pork Filled Productions, Live Girls!, Annex Theatre, Macha Monkey, Printer’s Devil Theatre, Tongue In Chic Productions, and Ese Teatro.
Alison Owen, Costume Design
Alison has previously worked with Arouet designing costumes for their productions of Don Juan in Chicago and The Brick and The Rose. Most recently her work has been on stage at Seattle Musical Theatre in Man of La Mancha.
Zanna Paulson (Lighting Design)
Zanna is new to the Seattle theatre community, having spent the previous 10 years lighting stages across the country. She vaunts a wide variety of experience in venues and technology, but is particularly proud of her efforts in tailoring original plays and musicals. Zanna also enjoys experimenting with light in photography and volunteering her skills for companies such as Equity Fights AIDS (Broadway Across America), Phillips Lighting and local education centers.
The Long Road Auditions
Arouet is thrilled to be present the US premiere of Shelagh Stephenson’s critically acclaimed play “The Long Road”, which was written in collaboration with the UK-based charity “The Forgiveness Project” and premiered at London’s Soho Theatre in 2008.
Arouet’s The Long Road will be directed by Zandi Carlson, last seen on the Arouet stage as Paige in The Gene Pool.
Rehearsals run January 26th-February 26th; Mondays & Wednesdays 8-10PM, Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-10PM with two weekend rehearsals Saturday, February 21st and Sunday February 22nd.
Character Breakdown
Joe: Early 20’s. Joe witnessed the murder of his brother, Dan. Dealing with survivors guilt; feeling inadequate because the better sibling died.
Mary: Joe’s mother. Seeking to forgive Emma, the murderer who killed her son. Struggling with conflicting emotions of forgiveness and revenge.
John: Mary’s husband. Dealing with the loss of his son by obsessively running and drinking. John is traditional, trying to be stoic, but crumbling.
Emma: 19. Emma stabbed and killed Dan, an 18 year old, while high on drugs. She is currently in prison. Emma is damaged, defensive and also funny.
Elizabeth: Late 20’s-early 40’s. Works in the prison system. Kind, funny, and thoughtful.
Audition Requirements
Please prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues about one minute each. One monologue may be in an English/London dialect if you choose (not required). Please bring your resume and headshot to the audition, and be prepared to provide conflicts during the rehearsal time.

Cast and Crew of “Conversations We Have”
Greg Brisendine (Writer)
Greg Brisendine is a playwright, actor, advice columnist, performance poet, and corporate drone who lives in Seattle. He’s been an Arouet company member for more than a year contributing to company productions as both a writer and an actor. As a poet, Greg has competed in Poetry Slams locally and nationally for more than 10 years.
Joshua Jon Christensen (Writer)
Joshua is ecstatic to be presenting a segment from his Portlandification of The Picture of Dorian Gray! Joshua made his Arouet debut this last spring directing Don Juan in Chicago, and will be producing The Long Road next spring. Currently, Joshua is also helping helm Seattle Immersive Theatre’s paranormal thriller Supraliminal, running through October. Originally hailing from Salt Lake, Utah, been independently producing his work around the Rockies before finally arriving in the Emerald City. Joshua holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from The University of Idaho and is inspired by his friends, pop art, and the American West.
Alysha Curry (Actor)
Alysha is honored and delighted to be a company member of Arouet. She was recently seen in The School for Lies with Sound Theatre Company and Sin, Sex & the CIA with Driftwood Players. Some favorite past shows include Tartuffe at SecondStory Rep, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at Seattle Public (twice), and I Dream Before I Take the Stand with Confrontational Theater Project. Richard Sean Glen (Actor)
Richard Sean Glen has three first names, a BFA in Theatre Arts from the University of Idaho, and a few theatre credits. His non-academic roles include that of the Porter in Macbeth (Animal Fire Theatre, Olympia, WA), Flavius in Timon of Athens, and Laertes in Hamlet (Moscow Art Theatre (TOO), Moscow, ID). He is excited to work with Arouet on such a fun project.
Max Holley (Actor)
Max Holley (Actor) is thrilled to be making both his Arouet and Seattle theatrical debut! He recently moved to the city after receiving his BFA in theatre arts from the University of Idaho. While at UI, he performed in Twelfth Night, A Funny Thing… Forum, Winter’s Tale, The Good Person of Szechuan, and Almost, Maine to name a few. He actively participated in the regional Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival conferences, and was a semi-finalist in the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Audition his junior year. In addition, Max has worked at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival for six seasons as costumer, as well as understudying roles for the main stage there. Max would like to thank Joshua Jon Christensen for introducing him to this great company, as well as Chris Martinez for giving him the opportunity to be part of this experience!
Jacquelyn Miedema (Actor)
Jacquelyn Miedema spends her time traveling from rehearsal to auditions and back again. With a BA in Theatre Arts, she finds her greatest joy in writing and performing all around Seattle. Jacquelyn is a proud Associate Artist of the boundary pushing inter-arts gang, the Libertinis and a frequent collaborator with Fantastic.Z. Theatre Company. Past shows include I, Gelosi, Gone Wild! and p(ART)y! Much living thanks to her friends, family and fellow artists.
